We’re Scott and Kathy, a couple of “slow nomads” who decided that once the kids left the nest, we’d leave too—except we haven’t quite figured out where we’re landing yet. After our youngest moved out and we got the friendly reminder that our apartment was about to be occupied by its rightful owner, we did what any responsible adults would do: we sold our stuff and hit the road. And now, we’re living the dream—if your dream involves getting lost in foreign supermarkets and mastering the art of pantomiming your way through conversations.
Our YouTube channel, K Now What, started as a way for our kids to keep track of us (so they could send help if needed), but it’s since turned into something bigger. Now, we’re on a mission to show that the world is friendlier and a lot more fun than the news might have you believe. We call ourselves “slow nomads” because we like to settle into each spot for a while—long enough to get a feel for the culture, make a few friends, and possibly learn how not to butcher the local language.
We’re here to share the beauty, the awkward moments, and the joy of traveling the world—armed with nothing but a carry-on, a sense of humor, and a map we occasionally forget to read. So, follow along as we explore the globe, one spectacular misstep at a time.
Because honestly… K Now What?
Scott’s a guy who believes life is best lived with a plate of something unpronounceable in front of you, preferably served by someone laughing at how badly you just ordered it. When he’s not taste-testing the globe, you can find him outdoors, either getting lost in nature, riding motorcycles in places with questionable road rules, or seeking out rollercoasters to see if he can scream louder than the teenagers. His travel philosophy? If you’re not a little dizzy by the end of the day, you’re not doing it right.
Kathy is the mastermind behind the phrase “K Now What,” a mantra she’s used for years and one that perfectly sums up her approach to life. She’s the planner, the organizer, and the one who always knows where to find the best local coffee—though occasionally the plan involves getting lost and discovering something amazing. With a sharp wit and a genuine love for connecting with people, Kathy makes every adventure feel a little more like home, even if it’s halfway across the globe.
So how did we land on "K Now What?"
Blame it on Kathy’s boundless enthusiasm and her truly original language skills. She’s the kind of person who calls an air conditioner a “sun-washer” and describes cough syrup as “throat sauce”—which, if you watch our videos, you’ll see in action more than you’d think possible. “K Now What” is a tribute to Kathy’s perpetual excitement and her never-ending quest for the next big thing. It’s like her personal battle cry for adventure, or as she might put it, "C'mon, it'll be fun!"

Our very first video? Picture two people with more curiosity than coordination, setting out to explain their grand travel plans. We talked about what K Now What is all about—exploring the world with wide-eyed wonder, fueled by Kathy’s unstoppable urge to dive into whatever comes next. We promised adventure, laughs, and the occasional - nope many bloopers. No perfectly curated video here, just real experiences and a knack for finding fun in every twist and turn. Whether it’s figuring out what we just ordered for lunch or navigating the world’s chaotic beauty, we’re taking you along for the ride.
What floats our boat
We appreciate people – from the strangers we meet on our travels to the folks watching, reading, or interacting with us online. Basically, if you’re a human and you exist, we like you.
Exploring other cultures is awesome! – because it turns out the world is a lot bigger and more delicious than our local strip mall.
We like fun: We believe in fun, even if it means occasionally laughing at our own expense (because, let’s face it, there’s a lot to laugh about).
The world is a beautiful place – full of incredible people, jaw-dropping landscapes, and animals that seem like they walked out of a Pixar movie.
Life is an adventure – not so much scaling Everest, but more like trying to order food in a new language without accidentally insulting someone’s grandmother.
We feel the fear and do it anyway – because the best memories start with a healthy dose of “uh-oh, here we go!”
When things go wrong - Mistakes? We’ve made a few. But hey, if you can’t laugh when your GPS leads you into a cow pasture, what’s the point?
